SUBMISSION ON WORKFLOW- WHAT IS workflow?
My work progress from the beginning of January to March 2022 to be submitted into the cyber cloud for my tutor or whoever I give access to, anywhere in the world, to see my progress. It has been a journey, a good one indeed, God help me, I am better today than yesterday. So much to read, so much new things to learn, new terminology, which is becoming part of me, new opening and new way of evaluating my practice.
Digital platforms are on-line space where exchange happens between producers of products, services and information and their costumers.
Examples of uses are Social media, and media sharing platforms like instagram, You Tube.
Knowledge platforms- Quora or Reddit.
Services orientated platforms – airbnb
E-commerce platform- Amazon
Digital platforms as tools are increasingly being used in work places and schools to encourage collaboration, build efficiency and ensure seamless information and knowledge sharing. The evolution of digital transformation in the work place began in the 1950s with the introduction of the telephone and typewriters in the offices. The COVID-19 challenges, the Zoom and Team culture, Ai, machine learning andante Cloud significantly influencing the Way we work and study. There is a lot of benefits working and studying on digital platform. Modern digital platforms have layers of security built in to prevent customers and students’ data from being lost, previously, securing data meant large storage footprint with files kept under locks and keys that was less reliable and come at an increased cost.
Global Outreach with digital platforms means that we can work and study wherever and however we want. They boost flexibility, their cutting- edge home working solutions enable us to work, study and collaborate anywhere, anytime of the day with zero compromise terms of performance or security. They also give the ability to quickly, safely connect to the network and continue accessing sensitive corporate data and system from anywhere from any device including tablets and smartphones.
Information goods are easily accessible on network like internet, it is free, perfect, and instant. Once an information is digitised, content or software, it is essentially free, to make copy of it and each copy is as good as the digitised original. It is also instant, network allows immediate distribution of digitised information to anywhere in the world.
However, there is continuous training and updates for the latest and the fasted -moving technology and data security and Cyber-attacks and its complexity. Digital on-line communication can sometimes be lost, not very clear or understood . Eye contact and body language which is important in communication, teaching and learning is lost. Background noises can on both parties be a barrier.
How do I function on a digital platform?
To work and function on a digital platform, I create a boundary and plan where to set up, when to start so that I am not stressed if connection is bad or fails, when to stop and adhere to the plan and time. Also knowing my limits and my rights as in what to access.
The Shade of Noir and UAL etiquette and boundaries on on-line platforms are smart and clear, it allows expression of opinion without bullying. It is my digital responsibility to be clear and fair in expressing my opinion and using my positionality to interact and sustain a safe space for all.
Digital platforms can be energy sapping, and cause Screen fatigue, dry eyes and headache. For work balance, I take intermittent breaks and drink plenty of water, exercise and yoga which aligns the mind and body.
